The challenge
The Client is a leading company in the production, applied research, and marketing of technical and medical gases, home care, biotechnology, and energy production from renewable sources. To consolidate the Group's leadership in sustainability, the company aims to improve its CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project) rating, refine its Scope 3 emissions calculation methodology, and fully align with the regulatory requirements introduced by the CBAM regulation.
The solution
Fichtner Management Consulting Italia s.r.l. supported the Group through an end-to-end approach aimed at improving sustainability reporting. Through a series of regular meetings and targeted interviews, FMCI guided the collection of data needed to complete the CDP questionnaire and calculate emissions along the value chain (Scope 3), while also identifying possible improvements to the calculation methodology.
At the same time, in order to prepare the Group for the definitive CBAM regime, workshops were conducted for management on disclosure timelines and methods, supplemented by a financial impact analysis based on predictive scenarios to assess the financial impact of CBAM regulations on the Group's business.
The conclusion
FMCI's intervention provided the Group with a comprehensive strategic overview of CBAM, enabling it not only to identify the associated risks but also to initiate mitigation actions. In terms of reporting, support in completing the CDP 2025 questionnaire enabled the Group to maintain the same rating as the previous year, demonstrating a strong commitment to sustainability. Finally, the analysis of Scope 3 emissions saw a general methodological advance, laying the foundations for extending the calculation to two new categories.
